Blackhawks come to North

On Thursday, April 5th, JROTC students and a few teachers, got to ride in Blackhawk helicopters. For some of the students, it wasn’t their first time.
“I’ve been in JROTC for 4 years” senior Johnathan Woolheater said. “I’ve done it 4 times and I’ve loved it every time”.
The teachers that participated were asked by JROTC students.
“Yeah this was my first time going up,” History teacher Andrew McCoskey said. “I’ve been in a commercial helicopter before but nothing like a Blackhawk.”
Some teachers, though, did not get to participate.
“I didn’t fly but I did hear the helicopters every time they passed by my class,” History teacher Michael Haught said. “I wasn’t asked or told or anything but I’m not a big fan of flying either so it wasn’t a big deal to me.”
Some teachers thought it was a learning experience for students.
“I feel like if kids don’t know what profession they want to go into, doing that could maybe help them,” McCoskey said. “Maybe they want to go into the Army and that just convinced them you know.”
Overall, while some of the students and teachers were scared, they all loved having that experience and would be happy to go up again.
