Annual Band-O-Rama taking place tonight

Audrey Miller, Student

Tonight, starting at 7 p.m., the annual Wichita Marching Band-O-Rama will begin. At the South High Carpenter Stadium, every high school marching band will gather up to commence the event with a mass performance of the Star Spangled Banner. This year, our very own director, Mrs. Byers, will be leading the presentation.

Band-O-Rama is different from other events the North High Marching Redskins attend. Although every other high school’s band will be in attendance, it will not be a competition. There aren’t even any judges to give out ratings – it’s a  “chance to show off our progress to the other schools,” Byers said. Although marching band is an incredibly competitive sport, Band-O-Rama is a sort of celebration of the efforts each band has put forth to create an outstanding field show. Senior alto saxophone player Sabin Garcia agrees with Mrs. Byers’ statement, voicing that he is excited to “make them see our 1-rated show.”
