Up against other public and private schools, including East, Independent, Andover, and Wellington, senior Sandra Vasquez placed third in this year’s YE business plan competition, a feat North High has not seen in years. Vazquez won $500 for placing third.
“Sandra presented her plan to monetize her furniture restoration hobby, with an underlying aim of promoting sustainability/circular economy,” YE teacher Grace Graber said.
Sandra is graduating this year and hopes to have this side gig up running to help with college expenses.
“I’m very happy and grateful I joined this competition, although I was nervous especially because it was my first time doing anything like this for entrepreneurship and also going against other schools who are far more competitive than North, which was a little intimidating,” Vazquez said. “Overall, I’m thankful for all the help I received from my teacher Ms. Graber, she really encouraged me and helped me all throughout the process. I feel elated to have put Norths name out there for people to see that North has great students.”
