This school year, a couple of the English teachers, Allie Ekeler and Emily Tanner, have put together a fun competition called the Reader’s Cup. Its purpose is to celebrate students and staff who like to read. “We wanted to be kind of fun and silly and do something to represent readers of the school,” Ekeler said.

So far no students have won yet – that part is still in the works but October’s faculty winner was history teacher Curtis Redus. He received a gold book seated on a gold stand with a plaque across the front. He said, “It was a fun experience and I hope more people around the school find out about it to participate.”

“If anyone you know reads a lot, you might want to nominate them. And once everybody puts in their ballet, the Redskins Read members look at all the votes and decide a winner from that,” Ekeler said.

Students can begin participating simply by reading and going with their Tower Time class to vote.
