Divergent: Bestelling Book to be a Major Motion picture

Veronica Roth realeased her first book, Divergent, of her best selling series April 25,2011. Since then her series has sold more than ten million copies and is on the New York Times Bestsellers list. Susan Dominus from the New York Times says that the book “sits own in the genre, with brisk pacing, lavish flights of imagination and writing that occasionally startles with fine detail.” Thea, a writer for the book smugglers, wrote in her review of the book that ” it’s that kind of addictive, can’t-put-it-down book.” Roth is one of only six authors that has had a their whole trilogy at the top of the New York Timer Bestsellers list at the same time. This is an extraordinary accomplishment considering that this was the first book that Roth wrote and published.

It was announced back in September that the film adaptation of the book was coming out March 21, 2014. It will be starring Shailene Woodley , from Secret Life of an American Teenager, as the main character, Tris. Her co-star, playing Tobias also known as “Four,” will be Theo James. This movie is predicted to be the next anthology, much like the Hunger Games, set in futuristic Chicago in a dystopian world, it is very reminiscent of Suzanne Collins’ trilogy. In Divergent, when you turn sixteen you take a test that places you in a faction based on your personality. Their are five factions : Abnegation, Erudite, Dauntless, Amity, and Candor. When Tris takes the test she learns that she doesn’t fit into any of the factions; she is divergent. The “government”  or “hierarchy”  hate anyone or anything that challenges the system. This book follows the story of Tris as she fights to survive and changes the world as she knows it.
