Baseball earns split with West

North High’s Baseball team had a split game with Class 6A’s No. 7 ranked West High on Monday. They won the first game 4-1, and lost the second game 10-0. During the first game Pitcher Sage Erwin “threw the best game of the season,” Varsity Coach Randy Griffitts said. Out of five hits for the game Jordan Gomez had two including a leadoff double to start the three-run 7th inning. Diego Escamilla got the last out of the game. During the first game “we didn’t make any errors,” Griffitts said. As the second game came around the score was 0-0 at the bottom of the fourth. West high scored 8 runs off of 1 hit in the inning. North was out of time. Rene Carrizalez pitched and “lost command of the zone” Griffitts said. Overall he was “proud of the way they played” throughout both games.  North High plays Garden City this Thursday. Griffitts goal for the game, is to leave with a split but he would “love a sweep.”
