A Day In Weights

Carla Gonzalez, Reporter

To start a day in weights you warm up and stretch. Usually you line up in multiple lines and you go across the weights room doing a certain warm up. Those warm ups include knee pull, butt kicks, high knees, high knee karaoke, and many more. After the warm up the teacher goes over the workout for the day and explains how to do them. On the projector there is a program and you pick your color so your workouts are consistent and organized. There is usually three main workouts you follow. You rotate after 15 mins and take a break if needed.

Today in weights I did good mornings and a band included exercise. For the second round workout I did sleds, farmers carry, and I spotted. The workouts keep you active throughout the class. You don’t need any experience to do the workouts. In weights everyone is on a different level and has a different experience. Everyone starts somewhere so the class is beginner friendly.

To conclude the day you pick your items that you used which may include a dumbbell, bench, bands, kettle bell, and more. Everyone has a rest until its time to dismiss. Its important to cool down so you don’t get sick. “Weights always gets my day started and i feel refreshed and awake after class,” fellow classmate Nayeli said. Weights in second hour is a fun class and I would recommend it.
