The History Keepers Club meet on February 15th to discuss their upcoming field trip to the American Jazz Museum and the Negro Baseball League’s Hall of Fame.

Prior to the meeting, club cabinet members visited various history classes to promote the group and the field trip. “Out group consists of mostly all seniors so we need to keep the group alive,” President Ollarzabal said. “We need more underclassmen to b apart of it for next year.”

The trips to classrooms were a success as at the February 15th meeting many of the attendees were underclassmen. At the meeting, the club sponsor Ms. Smith, broke down the basics of the field trip. She discussed how the day would look and what they would be doing.

The group will be leaving early in the morning on March 22nd, taking a drive on a charter buss to Kansas City and spending a couple of hours at the two museums. For lunch, the plan is to stop at either Joe’s BBQ or a different restaurant. On the way back , they will stop and Casey’s General Store. They will return to Wichita at around 7pm at night.

“I’m really excited for this field trip because I’m really excited to learn about African-American history,” senior Emily Guerrero said.

Field trip forms can be found in Ms. Smiths room (A315) and must be turned in with a  $30 payment by March 7th.
