Milk Float delivers the goods

With the fall weather taking hold of Wichita and winter quickly approaching, a warm drink along with something sweet is a craving we’re all too familiar with. Milk Float, being a coffee addict’s and a sugar junkie’s dream is surely the place go this season.

When you first walk in, the first thing you notice is the space. The restaurant is composed of high ceilings, wooden tables, and a cafe-style concept. It has a laid-back, modern touch, with an aesthetically pleasing scenery. While I was there, the restaurant was full of people engrossed in conversation, laughing, and simply having a good time. The open space along with the customer service allowed the atmosphere to be friendly and warm. The color scheme consisted of black, white, brown, and brick. There was an exposed pipe on the ceiling and bright lighting which added to the overall appearance.

From where I was sitting, you could clearly see the sugary goods displayed behind the glass case and had an overview of the checkout area.

Milkfloat, known as a dessert restaurant, provides an extensive menu that from time to time has vegan options. Located at 535 W Douglas Ave #140, it focuses mainly on serving colorful, whimsical, and to die for brownies, pies, cookies, cakes, homemade pop tarts, and frozen custard – along with coffee, tea, and homemade soda. Their menu is seasonal and rotates every two months, allowing an opportunity for variety. The pastries are all sweet, rich, and full of flavor, while the coffee-soda game is on point allowing the customers to enjoy its flavor spectrum to the fullest.

I wanted to try a variety of their items, so I ordered a slice of Oreo cheesecake, a toffee cookie, and a peanut butter pop tart along with a cup of hot chocolate and a latte.

The toffee cookie turned out to be my favorite. It was loaded with flavor and the sweetness was well balanced. I enjoyed every bite and would surely recommend it for this fall season. The peanut butter poptart came in second as a favorite. The childhood intertwined into the taste was special and it was a twist on a classic. The oreo cheesecake was a chocoholic’s fantasy. Every element of the oreo cheesecake combined to make an amazing symphony of flavors. The hot chocolate wasn’t overly sweet and had a soft taste of cocoa. I also tried the latte which didn’t disappoint in taste or in appearance. It was truly a coffee lovers dream.

Overall Milk Float is an excellent restaurant and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending it to anyone looking for a sweet place to cure this season’s cravings.
