Art students create bowls for fundraiser

Kansas food bank is holding a fundraiser ‘Empty Bowls Chili Cook-Off’ October 13th from 11-1 p.m. at Wichita State Experiential Engineering Building. Three hundred and fifty bowls handmade by secondary schools and elementary schools across the Wichita district. 30 of the handmade bowls made by Art teacher Tina Thomas’s poetry 2 and 3 classes. Attendees choose a bowl & fill it with chili and vote for their favorite. Ticket prices are $20, $10 for students with ID. “Handmade bowls go for normally $60 plus , this is a great deal. $10 for a handmade bowl & a meal,” Thomas said. All proceeds go to the Kansas Food Bank. “This is a great way to enjoy the arts and give back to the community,” Thomas said.
