Benefit of The Snooze

Jennifer Navarro, Reporter

We have heard myths about students and the lack of sleep they’ve been receiving. A big question we ask ourselves; How many hours do we really need and how do we know when we had enough?

After doing further research the average teen needs 8 to 10 hours of sleep every night.  Students are falling behind in class due to their amount of sleep. It benefits students not only for educational purpose but also for your health. Sleeping the hours needed will increase your mood as well as your motivation to do be more productive.  Those who aren’t fortunate enough to receive sufficient sleep may struggle with depression, memory loss or become more prone to accidents and acne.

It has been scientifically proven that teens need more sleep than adults and toddlers.  Sometimes all a student needs to be more successful is more sleep. While talking to multiple students more than half can agree what they function better after a goodnight sleep. “The more hours I sleep in the night the easier it is to focus,” freshman Joseph Navarro said.

Don’t be alarmed if you find yourself hitting the snooze button more often. It might actually be a good thing.
