Frustrated students unhappy with overfilled classes

The 2018 school year rang in with lots of scheduling issues. The reason: “overfilled classes.” This issue has been particularly rough for everyone. The students are annoyed with not getting to take the classes they want, while the teachers are frustrated with having extreme imbalances in class.

Many classes have 30 or more students, while others only have twelve. The counselors and principals have been scrambling, trying to get kids where they need to be while also trying to balance the classes.

Joie Robledo said,”It gets really hot and it’s really annoying. I feel like I can’t concentrate.”

Principal Lori Doyle has been trying to balance classes personally.

Enrollment is definitely up, according to administration. “We have had numerous people move into our community,” Assistant Principal Lisa Orsak said. “A lot of people want to go to North and we have to turn a lot of people away because we don’t have room.”

North currently has 2,205 students attending classes, while enrollment in 2016-2017 was 2,164.
