Due to the school shooting that happened a month ago, students worldwide planned a walkout. Plenty of students at North participated in the walkout. At the same time as the walkout,  choir also had its City Choir Festival at South High. Just as West High walked on stage, students walked out. As that happened, Amy Brown, Vocal Music Curriculum Coach of USD 259, stated that she was very proud of all the students on stage and the ones who remained seated. The ones who joined the walkout, stayed out for 17 minutes, 1 minute per life that was lost in the Parkland shooting. “If there was something I could do about (the school shootings), I was gonna do it and I wanna stand up for what I believe in.” said Joie Robledo, a Junior who walked out at the concert. The students voices were definitely heard, as they were walking back inside, students were asked their names & school. While some were proud to give their information, others gave out fake names. There was plenty of controversy over this topic. “If you don’t stand behind something enough to put your own name on it, then you don’t stand for the cause.” Senior Alisha Knudsen said.
