Threat found at North

Wichita North received a threatening message in a boys’ bathroom stalls Wednesday. The message said “I will shoot up the school, 2-8-18.” The message was quickly spread across social media.

School security has reviewed camera footage from the hallway outside the bathroom. No one has yet been identified. Precautions were taken to make students and parents feel safe. Security was heavily increased throughout the building on Thursday, with metal detectors at the main entrances, wands at all other doors and backpacks were searched before students were allowed to enter the building. All lockers were searched Wednesday evening. No guns were reported or found. The parents were notified with a voicemail Wednesday evening. The teachers were encouraged to “go back to what’s normal today,” Principal Sherman Padgett encouraged students and teachers to keep things as normal as possible.
