North high’s AVID program has been hosting a lot of events as well as volunteering on multiple occasions. When asked to describe AVID, Jennifer Parga who has been involved with AVID for the past two years said, “AVID is a support group that provides structures and experiences for people who don’t have that kind of opportunity at home. We are working with kids that will be the first in their families to go to college or even graduate high school.”

This program is letting kids learn a new way of life by helping others. Recent activity from the AVID program is volunteering with the Marshall Acamady’s BIOsmart students, where they supervised yard games and serves hot dogs. The Evergreen Fall Festival were they played carnival games, usually North’s JROTC volunteers for this, but they were unable to go. They participated in this and several other activities to give help to others.
