Raven Cheater and Jordan Shull

Around 1.5 million children in the United States are homeless ,and that’s just children not even counting the number of adults that are also homeless. When winter comes around, surviving can be a bit of a challenge for these families . One way that can help is Socktober. Socktober was created about 4 years ago by Soul Pancake which is a media and production company that “makes stuff that matters.” The most significant member is the Kid President,Robby Novak suffers from osteogenesis imperfecta, a disease that makes his bones brittle. But the nine-year-old doesn’t let his frequent injuries slow him down. Socktober is a  fundraiser that collects new and gently used socks for the homeless. Mr .Padgett was asked by a  friend , Maggie Ballard, if he would set a collection box up here. Maggie’s son, Paxton, has set up a blessing box that holds food available to those in need  Here at North High the collection goes from october 24th to november 3rd . You can drop off your socks at the front of the library between 7:30 and 7:50 a.m. The class that donates the most socks receives a cash donation from Mr. Padgett.  For more information go to soulpancake.com/socktober/
