The Marching Redskins at Kansas State

This Saturday, October sixth, the North High Marching Redskins will be headed to their first competition of the season. Heading off early in the morning, the band will ride in charter buses until they reach Manhattan. There, they will compete at Kansas State University with many other high school bands all across Kansas.

Some of the Marking Redskins are looking forward to this; others are wary. Their show, titled ‘Shades of Latin’, consists of four songs with a Latin influence. The show itself totals only to around eight minutes in length. However,  the band has been practicing it since August, as marching band is “an intensive sport – we practice every red day and every Thursday, and we’ve still got lots of things to improve,” says senior clarinet section leader, Issac Hernandez.
