Last Thursday, North high hosted an annual event called Poetry Out Loud. Poetry Out Loud can bring many opportunities to students that love to read poem’s and express themselves in it. The winner can continue on at regionals and if they win regionals, they can go to state and then to nationals. Mariela Ornelas won the event. According to organizer and English teacher Lara Engle, “Mariela Ornelas she deserved to win because this was ”the 3rd year she was trying out with all her effort and she was a really strong competitor.” But in the overall competition she said “simple as I love it.” She really was “impressed because most of this is done out-side of school and in their own time.”
