Last semester the freshman class at North High School were encouraged by GEAR UP to earn a 2.5 GPA or higher. Over 280 freshman students met the challenge and were rewarded for their hard work in the class room. There were so many students that the celebration had to be held on two different days. One on January 18th and the second at a later date. GEAR UP invited these students to celebrate during advocacy with food and fun.  GEAR UP which stands for a Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs, is a grant funded program.
