Balance Key to Soccer Success

Usually when a soccer team has a record of 8-2-1, which is the North High soccer team’s current record, there is a star player that the opponent has to account for. This is not the case for North.

Head Coach Curt Wullschleger said “I do not have just one key player.” Although Johnathan Renteria is leading the team in points (3 goals, 6 assists), the rest of his teammates are not far behind. The redskins have 19 players who have either scored a goal or have an assist.

Although North does not have one star player, the team does have key components. “Alfredo Espino is like the anchor of the field and Alejandro Orona is our fastest player, it is very reassuring having him as a defender” Wullschleger said.

With the season a little more than half over, expectations for the rest of the year and post season play are high.

“I am expecting to get farther than last year” Orona said. “We won regionals last year and lost right after that, this year I am expecting better things”

North will face Northwest tomorrow night at 7pm on the Northwest field.
