We asked student athletes from soccer, dance, band, volleyball, and cheer, about this year’s event. Here’s what they had to say…
Band participants
- Gabe Brody(Junior) and Anais Tucker(Senior)
-both involved in the school, and participating in the pancake feed
We asked a few questions…
“What is the pancake feed to you?”
G-“ It an opportunity to get our first performance of the year”
A-“It’s a way for me to officially be, like getting used to being in front of people”
Q ”How are you guys prepping for the pancake feed?”
G “Spending many hours in rehearsals to make sure we are the best we can be”
A “For me it also is a lot of reherasls lots of Monday nights and Thursday nights including our class hours?
Q “What are your guys’ expectations for this pancake feed”
G “ Probably expect about the same as last year, It was a lot of school spirit involved, getting everyone ready for the new year”
A “Just feeling the new school spirit of the new year the school year and just finally being able to see all the fun students and parents”
Q “How are you guys going to be showing your school spirit?
G “ I will be marching in the parade with the band”
A “ I will also be marching in the parade with the band except I will also be with the Cologuard putting together all of my performances and having fun!”
Soccer players
- Aramis Flores (senior) and Jose Anima (sophomore)
Both Aramis and Jose are involved in the school by playing on the boys Varsity Soccer team, and are both participating in the pancake feed, We asked a few questions to see how they feel about the pancake feed
Q “what is the pancake feed to you?
A” The pancake feed is a opportunity, to get a feel of the team and the spirit of the crowd”
J “Last year it was all new to me so now knowing what it is, I know it is an introduction to fall sports”
Q “How are you and your team preparing for the pancake feed?”
A “Putting in a lot of practice hours, to get the starting lineup for the scrimmage after the parade”
J “Getting ready to play, putting in extra hours and overall getting excited for the spirit”
Q “What are your expectations for this pancake feed?”
A “I am hoping for a good turnout, a lot of school spirit and the weather being nice for a good game”
J” Hoping for a good game, top tier school spirit, and with the game I know it’ll be a little difficult but I’m positive it’ll go well”
Q “How are you going to be showing your school spirit?”
A & J “Wearing red, being loud, and showing out and just overall show excitement”
Volleyball players
- Senior Volleyball girls Andrea Hernandez and Cora Daggett are participating in the pancake feed and are involved in the school doing other extra curriculars including yearbook, newspaper, band, and swimming. We asked them questions on how they feel about the pancake feed and how they will show their school spirit.
Q “ What does the pancake feed mean to you?”
A” I think I like it because it gives all the fall sports some recognition and It’s a fun thing like we all march down and there is a lot of alumni and they just go and record everyone so its really cool getting presented”
C” Way to start off the year and fall sports and kind of show everybody all the people involved in the fall sports”
Q” How are you and your team prepping for the pancake feed?”
A & C” Well we are putting I hours practicing and getting our jerseys assigned and ready”
Q” what are your expectations for this pancake feed?”
A” hopefully it is a nice day and there is a lot of people cheering us on and bringing their school spirit”
C” All of people better come and cheer and is decorated with paint and wearing our school colors”
Q” How are you showing your school spirit?”
A” I’m going to come up in my uniform, maybe a little face paint, and just overall be loud and cheer”
C” I’m going to paint my legs and my face and have my volleyball shirt or jersey on”
Cheer and Dance
Seniors Ana Rojas (cheer) and Katlyn (dance) are both participating in the pancake feed along with Junior Sophia Mcmillan (dance) All three of these lovely ladies are involved in the school doing other extra curriculars including Newspaper, Halo, Band, Softball, and leadership. We asked these ladies about pancake feed…
Q” What does pancake feed mean to you?”
A “ pancake feed to me is kind of a way to introduce all the fall sports and kind of getting to know who we are cheering for, I am a cheerleader for north and representing this team”
K” I’m not to sure yet this will be my first time at pancake feed, but I do know that this is a nice fun introduction to fall sports so that’s exciting”
S” Pancake feed is a fall sports kickoff and is so much fun to see all the other teams have their introduction and its exciting to see all the other teams scrimmage. And we get pancakes so that’s pretty fun too!”
Q “ How are you and your team prepping for the pancake feed?”
A” We are kind of leading the parade that goes from minisa, down the bridge, and to the football turf we are going to be preforming the whole time” “We are practicing many this like preforming and how to bring up the crowd to really put in school spirit and really support us and for me as an individual I’m really trying to keep up with the expectations of the audience and everyone who’s there to watch”
K” We are preforming in the pancake feed helping people out with their directions, be their guides and just have a good time at pancake feed
S” We are practicing our performances me and my team are going to be dancing and I am also going to be participating with the band”
Q” What are your expectations for this pancake feed?”
A” im really expecting the whole thing to be nice, nice day nice weather, a lot of people being there and being loud and cheerful”
K” To eat food and have fun”
S” Im hoping for everyone to have a good time have some pancakes and get to know our teams a little better”
Q” How are you going to be showing your school spirit?”
A” I will be pretty much preforming the whole time in my cheer uniform, and showing pride and participating as a whole team and just over all showing the school spirit and influencing everyone else to do the same too!”
K” We are going to be wearing either our dance uniform and we are preforming and just cheer and have a good time”
S” By being involved and just showing up and showing out and always having a good attitude”
Football players
Cesar Ramos is a senior on the north high football team, he is involved in the school and is going to be participating in the pancake feed this weekend. We asked him a some questions to get to know a little bit more.
Q” What is the pancake feed to you?”
C” The pancake feed to me is everyone helping to raise money for the fall sports and athletes”
Q” How are you and your team preparing for the pancake feed?”
C” Me and my team are preparing by showing up to practice and working hard on the field everyday”
Q” What are your expectations for this pancake feed?”
C” Students and parents getting to be more involved in some of the activities at north”
Q” How are you going to be showing your school spirit?
C” I am going to be wearing my jersey, be hype and be ready for the march and the scrimmage”
