Thursday, 9-26, North boys’ soccer went up against rivalry team East High. The final score was 1-0 giving North a victory and leaving them 6-1-1 overall in the season. #7 Jose Mata, making the goal with the help of #25 Jose Cordero, assist.
“The boys played a mature brand of soccer. They were brave in their challenges, an organized unit, and closed the game out by being solid. We don’t want to give teams easy opportunities because we lack the discipline to not foul, which is something we did much better this game,” Head Coach Curt Wullschleger said.
The depth of the team is proving to be one of its biggest assets to the success of the season. However, Wullschleger believes there is still areas the team can improve despite the good start.
“Our biggest strength is our depth. The boys improved on not giving up silly fouls. However, there is room to improve on finishing in front of the goal and we can always get better at finishing, communicating, and staying switched on throughout the game, yet as a team they all highly contribute,” Wullschleger added.
