Today is September 11th, which is a very significant day in history. September 11th, 2001, terrorists attacked America, leaving more than 2000 people dead in an attack on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. and Flight 93 which was taken down by the passengers after the terrorists took over the plane in Pennsylvania.
The North JROTC team and other volunteers decided to pay tribute to all the people who had their life unfortunately taken away from them.
“We’ve decided as a tribute on our physical fitness day to walk the steps in replication of all the civilians that were trapped in the twin towers and couldn’t get out of the building,” 1SG (Ret.) Janna M Escudé, JROTC educator said.
Not only did people die in the twin towers, but also within the other targeted areas.
“We’re walking steps for all of those civilians as well as the ones that died in the pentagon and the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania in the field,” Escude said.
JROTC students, teachers, and even principals all gave back and walked steps for the casualties that happened.
“We have to tribute, recognize and show appreciation for those who didn’t, and weren’t able to have a full life,” Escude said.
“You never know when tragedy is going to strike,” Escude said.
