Every year North kicks off fall sports with the annual pancake feed. This includes fluffy pancakes, a parade, and handfuls of scrimmages. All of the athletes come back to school on a Saturday to represent the school and show off what the new year of sports look like.
From Freshman to alumni the cafeteria fills with families to support the school and students. With fresh pancakes being made and new apparel being sold, the lines grow and grow. Once everyone fills up with breakfast, they begin to line the streets to watch all the students walk from Minisa park all the way to the football field.
Once everyone reaches the football field, North begins a small pep assembly like celebration. Each sport including JROTC and band all get introduced. The dance team and cheer team dance and show off some new routines. Once the celebration is over, some sports teams begin a scrimmage to show of what potential they have for the new season.
Senior Aiden Kinch said, “I think when everyone being recognized is my favorite part because watching everyone take it all in and appreciate what our school has to offer is really nice. The sense of community because it brings a lot of the current students, alumni, and teachers to celebrate. It is really cool to be engrossed in that feeling of everyone being around.”
