As the season comes to an end the girls swim team is off to state. May 18-21 they will be swimming in Topeka, Kansas to represent North High. Six ladies will be in attendance.

Ellie Graber, Sage Graham, Raimi Huggins, and Sophia Rice have all qualified in relays. They will be swimming the 200-yard medley relay, 200 -yard freestyle relay, and 400-yard freestyle relay.

Cora Dagget and Marie Loest will join as well. But while swimming two relays they both have two individual events. Cora will be swimming the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly. Marie will be swimming the 200- yard IM and 100- yard breaststroke.

Both ladies placed very well at GWAL. Dagget placed 3rd in both the free and fly. She got some new best times and went home with two medals. Loest went home with one medal. She placed 1st in the breaststroke. Loest once again is City Champ two years in a row in that event.

“Well, I’m pretty nervous because last year I only swam the 50- yard freestyle and the three relays, so it’s pretty nerve racking. But I know I have a lot of people to support me and cheer me on.  I know whatever turnout happens I’ll be okay because it’s state,” Cora said.

All of these ladies are seeing their hard work paying off. Being able to go to state is a large accomplishment. They have all worked hard in the pool this season.

” I am beyond proud to say I have qualified for state for the third year. The work all year round that I have been putting into the pool definitely paid off this year. Qualifying for four events is just mid blowing to me but I am very proud,” Marie said.

In one week, these ladies will be in Topeka giving everything they have to do their best.
