On Friday boys tennis duo partners DJ Fowler and Brian Nguyen went into the Regional Tournament in Dodge City seeded 3rd in the region, and they went on to win 3rd out of 6 in the tournament and cement their spot in the state tournament, for the first time in 30 years for North!

Fowler, a junior, and his duo partner Nguyen, a freshman, both feel very excited and happy to have accomplished such a major feat for the boys tennis program. Both boys feel very positive going into the state tournament, along with their respective futures next season.

Nguyen is focused on improving his game, as this is his first year playing tennis, but he says he “plans to attend state all 4 of his years at North”

Fowler said he is “planning on getting to state again next year” and “focusing on my technique heading into state.”

The boys tennis coach Sarah Killenberg is focusing on preparing them for the competition they will face at state, which involves footwork drills, finding angles, and making sure to have a good confident mentality heading in. She is “very proud of them and is confident on their ability to go far in the state tournament.”
