Conferences have been by telephone or video the last two years because of the Covid-19 pandemic. This year, they return to in-person.

On September Wednesday September 13th and Thursday September 14th North will be holding their first conferences of the 2022-2023 school year. Things are going to be a bit different than they have been the past few years.

Conferences will be from 4:00-7:15 p.m. on both days, and will be held in three locations on the first floor of the school. In the Library, the New Gym, and the Cafeteria. The teachers will be divided between the three locations based on their first name.

Parents/ Guardians are able to enter the building in three locations: the main entrance, the tower entrance, and the ramp entrance. When you enter the school you will go to the welcome tables and get your schedule as well as a bingo punch card.

On the punch card students will write their first and last name, as well as their student ID number.

On September 15th, there will be a College fair that can be found along C hall and A hall.

“We are aiming to have 100% participation this year,” Vanessa Martinez, Academy 3 Assistant Principal said.

“I think its more efficient this way. Better opportunity for parents to talk to more teachers,” Culinary teacher Quinton Burgess said. “It makes more sense than just talking to the advocacy teacher.”

Physics teacher Mr. Owen had a similar viewpoint on the matter. “You meet parents who are involved with their kids, meeting parents helps give teachers an understanding about a student. Conferences can help build trust between a parent and teacher.”
