Chanel Oller is the new Academy 4 assistant principal at North this year. After graduating from Valley Center High school, Oller attended cosmetology school and opened a hair salon. She has three kids who also attend school in Valley Center, a son who is 17, and two daughters who are 15 and 12.

After spending 12 years in the cosmetology industry, Oller went back to school to become a teacher. Oller knew she wanted to get her master’s degree, but was unsure at the time what to pursue. After talking to friends and family she decided on getting her masters in leadership.

“I was a third-grade teacher in Valley Center for 7 years. I had no original plans on becoming a part of administration, it just sorta happened,” Oller said.

As the Academy 4 assistant principal, Oller is in charge of many things at North. Some of these things include: managing the teacher duty schedule, taking care of transportation, managing field trips, and dealing with student issues.  “I am much busier than before,” Oller said.

When Oller was presented the opportunity to come to North,  she had a few reasons for wanting to join the staff, with a few reasons including loving and wanting to be a part of the traditions and events at the school, it’s closer to home, and she heard many great things from people about North High.

“One of the reasons I wanted to come to North was for the great people and wonderful staff.”
