Guadalupe Urbina received a full-ride scholarship to Fort Hays State University.

Guadalupe Urbina is a senior at North High school. She applied for the Schmidt scholarship. There were around 200 applicants and amongst those applicants, 15 were chosen for an interview. After the interview, they chose five recipients for the scholarship.

On Monday, March 28th, Guadalupe was caught by surprise in class surrounded by the news, classmates, teachers, friends, and family. She received the great news that she was one of the five applicants to receive the scholarship.  She was later taken outside the room and had an interview with the news.

When asked how she felt at the moment she responded “I was very grateful for the opportunity that was given to me. Some students don’t know how they’ll pay for college but I am feeling very relieved. I was caught off guard by the surprise but after seeing my family and friends around I was happy and very grateful”.

Guadalupe hopes to major in nursing and procced her career as a traveling nurse or labor and delivery nurse.
