The 2021-2022 state championship meet was February 17- 19. A lot was accomplished. A lot of goals were exceeded.  North High’s state swimming champion is Lane Werth. Lane blew it out of the water and left his footprint at this meet.

Werth placed 3rd overall in the 200 freestyle as well as setting a new school record. But most of all he placed first overall in the 500 freestyle. Lane broke his own school record that was set last swim season. He now has a new personal best and a new time for the record board.

“This is one of the biggest accomplishments in my swimming career. It feels good to finally be on top. All the years of training, time, and dedication finally paid off,” Werth said.

Coach Turley was elated for Werth and proud of all of the state qualifiers.

“Time is FLYING, I can’t believe how fast state came. All the boys that made it too state swam very strong. I am beyond proud of Lane. He has worked very hard for this and everything came out in his favor,” Turley said. Not only did the boys make their mark but Coach Melody Turley received the award for Coach of the Year for 5A. Her dedication to the sport is inspiring and she pushes her swimmers to reach their goals.
