North High hosts it’s annual Turkey Drive

North high students and staff were in the giving spirt last week.

The Turkey drive is an annual event through United Methodist open door ministries,  where organizations around the city raise money, and collect food to give to the less fortunate around the holiday season.

North high students helped raise money for the turkey drive in three ways: The Penny war, Spirit days, and The Second Hour Competition.

North collected over 380 items of non perishable goods, over $300 and a donation of $700 from an outside source.

One of the ways was again, The Penny War. The Penny War was when students here donated money to vote on who gets thrown into the river.

Mitch Kucera was the staff member with the most amount of money raised for the Turkey Drive. By being the winner of the Penny War, Kucera had to jump into the Little Arkansas River.

“It was fun! It was one of the coldest days so far…but I survived!” Kucera said.
