Quinton Burgess has been named the new head football coach for the 2020 season.

Burgess, who teaches culinary arts at North, was the defensive coordinator last season. He is also the head wrestling coach.

“It feels great,” Burgess said of being named head coach. “I have been at North for a few years now and believe that there is a lot of positives that we can build on as we move forward with the football program.”

Burgess is replacing Scott Moshier, who was the head coach for three years. Moshier will retire at the end of this school year and has taken a position at Friends University as the Assistant Athletic Director.

Burgess has coached at Larned High School and Nickerson High School before coming to North. He played defensive line at Sterling College where he was named a captain and earned All-KCAC honors.

“The North High community can expect to see a football team that is committed to competing regardless of circumstance,” Burgess said. “We want to make sure football is fun for our kids and continuously compete on each snap throughout the year.”
