After weeks of preparation, the History Club took their first field trip of the year to the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library & Museum in on November 1st.

The group of about 25 members loaded up their bus at about 6:30 a.m. and began their 90 minute trip to Abilene, Kansas. As the group arrived they were greeted by employees of the library. The group had originally planned to split into two groups and visit two different exhibits that the museum had but their plan did not work out.

When they arrived, they were informed by museum officials that the museum portion was completely under renovation so they could not visit it. Instead of going through the museum, the group visited Eisenhower’s Presidential library and his boyhood home. “Although they didn’t have the museum open it was really cool to see his library and his boyhood home,” member Nayeli Nuñez said. “Overall it was a really fun and informative experience, we go to learn a lot of cool stuff about Eisenhower.”
