Circle of Friends is a club at North where students can join to help special needs students gain an overall unforgettable , comfortable, and fun high school experience by creating friendships.

On Tuesday October 23rd, Circle of Friends started off the year at an event at Sedgwick County Park. This event is called the Back to School Party  hosted by The Arc of Sedgwick County. At this event, students and their buddies got the chance to play different games such as hitting a frozen block of ice to get different toys hidden inside.           The Arc of Sedgwick County hosts different events like this monthly.

Kathryn Crippen is the Special Ed teacher and also sponsor for COF and is planning on doing monthly out of school activities with her kids like a combined COF dance in November. Circle of Friends  is important because it creates friendships among students with special needs and regular education students. It also helps combine special needs student into the school community which advocates to  bringing awareness of skills students with special needs have. I love my students. I love getting to celebrate every small gain that we make,” Crippen said.
