Volunteer Work at Legacy Gardens
April 17, 2018
On April 13th, four students from North will be volunteering at Legacy Garden. Mr.Fleet selected these four students when they submitted an application. He looked at their grades and classes they were in. These four meet every once a week during advocacy to talk about how they will improve the community and be better leaders. “It’s a great opportunity to meet new people and help the community,” Melissa Ornelas, a sophomore recommended by Mrs.Turnbow said. Also a few kids from West will be accompanying them. At Legacy Garden, they will be building a mural made up of broken tiles. The purpose of this mural will be to raise awareness about what Legacy Garden is all about. This organization grows food for “low-income neighborhoods.” They also help out the youth with teaching real world job skills. This project will help build team working skills and have the outcome be something the kids can be proud of.
