Raven Cheater, Reporter

On average, it takes from two to five minutes to register to vote. Just two minutes: the average person spends 90 minutes a day on their phone.

To register, all you need is to fill out the forms. You need to be 18 years old to legally vote. However, if you are not 18 at the moment, but will be by the next election day, you can register to vote earlier.

You need a few items ready when you begin the process. You will need proof of U.S. citizenship, a drivers license or Kansas ID. If you do not have either of those, you can fill out the paper form and mail it in to the corresponding office. You will need your social security number for the paper forms.

The average for youth voting should be around 70%; however, in the last election the percentage was at 58%.  Voting is important, no matter the age. This is especially with recent events like the March For Our Lives and other social issues people that affect young people.

Students need to make their voice heard, not just on social media but on the ballots. If you are able to vote, vote . If you are too young now, begin thinking ahead, be educated, and encourage others to vote.
