New security guard enjoying North
February 16, 2018
Long-time North security guard JB Jaques retired last semester, but North has welcomed his replacement, Gary Vetaw.
Vetaw wasn’t always a security guard, as he has worked at previous schools doing work as a janitor and an night patrol officer, and even in the food department. Previously, Vetaw had never had the full experience to work with kids, but many say he’s adapting well.
“I like it, it’s different but cool getting to know kids and having those kids that you connect with and talk to everyday,” Vetaw said.
Vetaw has been with the school district for a while and has met many friends who admire his work, with one of those being North security guard Delana Mock. “When the position came open, I told him to apply at North because he’s just a pretty good guy,” Mock said.
Every one across the school is starting to warm up to Vetaw, including security guard DeShonn Larkins, who said, “Without him, I’m just Batman. But with him we are the dynamic duo.”
