State Orchestra Auditions
January 8, 2018
South Central Kansas Music Educator Association (KMEA) let’s kids audition for a chance to play in the KMEA Honors Orchestra. The process starts by submitting an application to the teacher and therefore getting selected to audition. Students prepare by learning pieces given to them to memorize. After weeks of preparing, the selected students head to Andover Central High School where they audition ion front of three judges who are band and orchestra directors. Results come out after they’ve auditioned. From North High, students Chris Urbina and Ian Ramirez Matthews were selected to be in KMEA Honors Orchestra. Jonathan D. was selected to be an alternate. Since the students were chosen it gives them the opportunity to go to Salina and audition for All State Orchestra.
