On Friday, September 6th, the North Redhawk football team started their season against Liberal, but it wasn’t the start the team was hoping for.
Liberal scored 70 points on Friday against North and North only scored just 6 points at the end of the fourth quarter.
The football team has reflected on their actions on Friday’s game and still has a lot of work to keep this season still strong. The QB1 for the North Redhawks, Noe Alvarado says, “Honestly the reason we lost so bad is that we let our mistakes get a hold on us. If you watched the game, you could see on the sideline after the first score, how everyone was hanging their head.”
Many of the offensive linemen had a lot of struggles with the game on Friday, with protecting the Quarterback. Senior Mario Jackson said, “I think I did pretty good and to be honest I had a couple of messed up plays, but I stayed on my feet with my head up, but I think that the other three linemen we have need to improve though.”
One of the other offensive linemen from North, Xavier Bennet said,”I felt we got out coached, out played, and we were not prepared for that game. We could not stop number 73 and we couldn’t stop their offense.”
Even despite the big loss, the North High Redhawks still completed a passing touchdown to start their season off. Sam Doell, who caught the touchdown pass on Friday said, “I felt like we didn’t get to show the progress we made this summer conditioning.”
North football will have their next game to improve against Kapaun at Heights stadium on Friday, September 13 at 7:00 p.m.
