Goodbye, Redskin Staff
May 11, 2015
North High School is a building filled with teachers that have affected students lives for the better. This year North will see four of its staff go. Two of those people are Principal Sherman Padgett’s secretary Valerie Jones and French teacher Carlos Whitworth.
North is known for its culture and environment which appealed to Jones and is something she will miss “I like the history and the culture and the connection to the community,” she said. “It is something that I will miss a lot.” While Mr. Whitworth said he will miss seeing the kids and the faculty everyday. “My students see me as a friend, well really more like a grandpa now. I will miss them,” Whitworth said.
So what are their plans for retirement? “I plan to travel , and play with my grandson. I will also be a part of my families lives more,” Jones said. While Whithworth said, “I plan to sub and travel and spend a lot of time with my family. I still want to be a part of students lives.”
No matter the reasons for their living one thing is for sure that North High will miss all the teacher leaving us this year. As we say “Once a Redskin, always a Redskin.”
