North High student becomes U.S. Citizen

After a long and difficult two year process, Ashanti Luna from North High school became a U.S citizen.

Ashanti decided to start her citizen process a year ago, when asked why she decided to start it she said, “I did it because I was the only one in my family that didn’t have a green card and it was taking so long to get mine so I decided to get my citizenship”.

The test consisted of writing, reading, and speaking. It took her two months of online and in person classes to prepare for her test.

They are given 100 questions to study and are only asked 10 of them. A person must answer at least get six questions correct in order to pass and that is exactly what she did. The testing place was at USCIS Wichita Field.

When asked how she felt after her response was ” I was so excited, I can finally vote”. Her ceremony took place on January 7th 2022 at Wichita’s WSU Eugene M. Hughes Metropolitan Complex Ashanti also talked about the benefits she was looking forward to like getting her license and getting to travel anywhere.
