Nintendo is selling this console as a smaller option ]than the base model Switch which has a better battery life and comes in a variety of colors. The best part? It’s cheaper.

However, due to the fact that it’s cheaper, they company obviously had to make some cuts to save money. The Switch Lite cannot connect to a dock to play on the TV, making it purely a handheld console instead of the hybrid console the base model switch.

Nintendo’s Joycons which are the controllers that attach to the console are integrated into the Switch Lite making them impossible to remove. This has many people worried because the Joycon’s have a problem where the sticks will “drift.” This means that the Joycons will think that the stick is being held in a specific direction when the stick isn’t even being touched. Because the Joycon’s are integrated, fans are worrying about having to replace the console as a whole instead of just the Joycons.

The Nintendo Switch: Lite will retail at an MSRP of $199.99 compared to the Normal Switch at $299.99. Now, whether saving $100 is really important is up to the buyer. You lose quite a few features for this amount. The people that the Switch: Lite is being marketed towards shouldn’t really care however, it’s for people who can’t afford the standard Switch.

With the release of the Switch: Lite, Nintendo’s last handheld, the 3DS, will finally be put to rest after being initially released in 2011.

The Switch: Lite is definitely worth the money if the sticks don’t have the same problem the Joycon’s have. Some people have already gotten early releases of the console and most have praised it, so hopefully it’ll live up to its predecessor.
