Nico Hernandez is a North High alumnus. “He was a hard worker, didn’t make excuses, he is everything you would want in an Olympic athlete,” North Principal Sherman Padgett said. From being the best around as a boxer, Hernandez expanded to being one of the best in the U.S. After qualifying for the Olympics Hernandez had Wichita supporting him for the win. “Going to the Olympics took a lot of hard work and if I can do it anyone can do it,” Hernandez said at his celebration.
