Lane Werth Makes Top 20 swimmer in the State

Lane Werth, a senior and swimmer at North and has recently made the list of top 20 swimmers in the state of Kansas. He’s worked tremendously hard throughout his years of swimming and expressed how it feet to make the list.

“I think it’s really impressive to be a top 20 swimmer in the state. I’ve worked really hard and I’m glad it’s paid off.” It’s not easy to be rated that high as a swimmer, Lanes shares what he thinks makes him such a strong swimmer. “I think my competitiveness helps, I love to win and I’ve been swimming for almost all my life,” he said.

Lane swims in the 200 and 500 free events and this is what he hopes for his senior season of swimming, “I hope to put some new records on the board and become a state champion.” While being a swimmer at North, he also swims for a club swim team and he shared what its like. “I swim for the Wichita Aqua Shocks, I really enjoy swimming with them. Most of them are like a second family to me.” He also mentioned his next step in his swimming career, “I see myself swimming in college, I’m looking at some D2 schools but I’m hoping to go D1 someday.”

Since the age of 8 years old Lane has been swimming. He shared why he got into the competitive side of swimming, “I’ve always liked to swim so I figured why not take it to the next level. I also enjoy the winning and competitiveness of it.” Lane also mentioned his favorite part of swimming. “Swimming is just a unique sport many people can’t do, I also meet so many awesome people and I get to travel to cool places for meets.” Lane is still working hard to chase his dreams.
