New coach Adrienn Amaro started off the season with a 3-1 victory on Saturday, August 26. Amaro had been coaching club volleyball for four years before coming to Northl.

“I felt really confident about how the games would go this weekend,” Amaro said.

After only winning five matches last season, the team is determined to do better this year. The girls beat West 27-25 in the first match; they then lost to them 20-25, and won again 25-9. They beat East 25-22 in the first match and 25-19 in the second. They went on to beat Southeast 25-14 and 25-17. Heights then defeated North’s girls, 25-19 and 25-13

All the players were nervous, but a few were excited and ready to start the season.

One of these players is Senior Jordan Berseth, a four-year varsity player.

“Everyone was nervous about the first game, but I was excited,” Berseth said.

Some of the players’ goals were to have a better season than last year. Junior Alex Condit, a three-year varsity player, said,  “I believe the team’s goal this year should be to create a new atmosphere for North volleyball.”

The next three volleyball matches will be against Emporia. They then play a Triangular on September 6, and a tournament on September 10.
